Harlan Vortex
San Francisco, California
Suggestive of a metallic vortex, the artwork consists of hundreds of wind-vanes suspended on a vertical cable that runs the full height of a new building in San Francisco. The column of vanes reveal how the direction and velocity of the wind varies with height. Wind currents interacting with the edges of the building create air vortices which are made visible by the artwork. Completed in 2020.
