Switchwall
Seattle, WA
The facades of a new electrical substation in Seattle were clad with an array of thousands of wind sensors that change color depending on the direction of the wind. Each sensor is essentially a switch that gets flipped by nature instead of humans. Evocative of the complexity of the electrical grid of the city, pulses of colored light sparkle across the facades. A collaboration with NBBJ Architects. Completed in 2020.
